mm. Just some Sneaky Sound System lyrics there...
so today, W and I broke it off. As I said, we had that huge fight on friday, and I felt like he totally thought of me as some evil, manipulative bitch. But today, I met up with Anna and her friend Wendy, and we had breakfast at Brighton Le Sands, and they made me feel a lot better and helped me out when I got an sms from him. I organised to meet up at Parramatta, and exchange belongings and talk.
So I drove over there this afternoon, and we had the rational, non-hurtful conversation we should have had about 2 weeks ago. We decided to be friends and see how things go. I'm sure we've all had that 'be friends' situation, where afterward, they (or you) do something hurtful because the boundaries between what is friend behaviour, and what is partner behaviour are blurred, or just difficult to determine, and each of you has different expectations - and that may still happen, but at the moment, although it's been really hard, I'm actually happy with how things have gone. I really hope he doesn't let me down by treating me badly in this post breakup phase but he's a good guy so I hope he wont.
We basically decided to just keep in contact, be friends, see what happens, and go from there. I was really proud of myself for keeping it together and not crying. Then I met up with the girls for dinner, and we went to the usual Italian place and got drunk on sparkling wine. I kind of felt bad for W, he had to go to Kari's girlfriend's 'Casual Glam' party and explain to everyone why I wasn't there. Ha! (I know, it's impossible not to be just a little bit glad about that, lol - not to mention, wtf is casual glam?! to me, thats the kind of term that people use when they just want everyone to feel like they're dressed wrong - so you feel good about yourself and everyone else is wondering wtf is appropriate to wear! whatever! - that's my rant, and I'm sticking to it! lol!)
Soooo.. yes. I seem to be dealing better than even I expected. Maybe my heart is just frozen. There are only a certain number of times you can experience this kind of pain before your body just shuts down.
On the plus side, I got my stuff back, including the cute little tofu toys I won at Capitol Square on wednesday! woo! they're valentines day themed, with one that is chocolate coloured, with white hearts on the top, and another, that is pink, with a little red heart on it's forehead. I'd take pictures but it's too much work at this point in my life. I still have to photograph my cute 'spread the love' tshirt from palmercash.com. I'll get around to it.
On saturday, Jasmine and I went to the Paddington markets, and that was really fun too! I'm seeing her tomorrow for breakfast so I should probably go to bed now... yawn... so tired!
It's been a really heavy week. Wednesday I stayed at W's. First we weent to Capitol Square and won two valentines day themed tofu toys and a funny looking bear holding a chicken. Then we got the train to W's area and had dinner at 'the Wenty' RSL club. We had only just finished dinner when he got a phone call - his soccer team had a practise match, and so we had to drive like mad things back to his house and grab his soccer things and race to the field.
It was absolutely freeeeeezing, and I was very grateful to have W's jumper from the car, along with my cardigan, and my pashima. Afterward we were both exhausted and pretty much went straight to bed and slept. On Thursday, I met Alison and we had breakfast and shopped for boots, and then after work, I had a networking evening, so my boss and I got a taxi to Bondi, and spent the evening talking about what we do in a kind of 'musical chairs' game, and lost my 'networking virginity'.
I slept really badly on thursday night, I guess I was just thinking about my assignment due this afternoon. Then today, I had the morning shift, and our computer kept turning off, so although I managed to get a good portion of my uni work done, I accidentally sent myself the wrong file in my rush to email it from my work address to my home email.
After work I rushed home and realised that I'd sent the wrong file, so I had to redo all the work I'd done! luckily it was only 500 words, so it didn't take me too long.
I was hoping that I would get to see W tonight, but he is doing something with his work friends and we had a terrible argument on the phone. I'm not really sure what will happen now - sometimes I feel sad that every person we have had some kind of relationship has imprinted on us - the past effects us in ways we could never imagine. It makes me wonder if I've become twisted and ruined by my past experiences.
I was watching the film of memoirs of a geisha, since I've been reading the book, although I enjoyed it, the book was much, much better. I stuffed myself with strawberry icecream and watched the movie, and now I think I'll go to bed and snuggle with the rabbit.
I just wish for so many things that I cant even explain.. Hopefully mey next post will be somewhat more cheerful!
I totally rocked out this weekend. It was super cool. Here's what went down:
Fri:
After work W and I wnt to a start of the NRL season party at the house of a work slash uni friend of his. It was actually pretty fun, I figured out the scoring and since most people had tipped one team to win, but were actually fans of the other team, so it didn't really matter who won.
After the game, we played several stupid drinking games and then singstar [Which is clearly a good indication of how downhill the evening went..]
Sat:
Soooound Relief!! I lost my concert with multiple bands virginity! it was pretty epic, it was at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), and we had a corporate box that was pretty much directly in front of the stage, although obviously, the stage was on the otherside of the field. Still! Coldplay opened, and they were incredible live... then they sang a duo with Aussie 'legend' John Farnham singing "You're the Voice". They were really the best act of the concert, but other bands playing included; You Am I, the Hoodoo Gurus, Wolfmother, Jet, Taylor Swift, Eskimo Joe, Architecture in Helsinki and the Presets... And throughout the day there were mexican waves, a group that made a huuuge snake out of plastic beer cups, a few fights, Coldplay's Chris Martin did a crowd run... it was really fun!
We were going to stay to see Icehouse, Barry and Olivia Newton John, but it started to rain really heavily, and I figured most people would leave directly after the presets, and then we'd never be able to get a taxi or a bus, so we left about 3 songs into their set, even though the energy in the crowd was amazing!
The rain was so cold, and when a car drove past us while we were waiting at the bus stop, I was soaked right through to my underwear. We pre-ordered pizza and pasta from Pizza Hut, and picked it up on our way through from the bus stop, and then had long hot showers before going to bed early and snuggling.
Sun:
W had to leave early to get some work done at home before he headed off to Perth for work, so I drove him to the station and then had breakfast with Anna at Bondi Beach. Then we went to Centennial park and I had some hideous tea concoction that I regretted, as well as a cranberry juice...
got back around 3 and had a nap until I went out to dinner with the girls, which was a bit gloomy, the girls seemed a bit down, and what with Anna's breakup still fairly fresh, we had a bit of a whinge about men and their uselessness in general..
And that was pretty much the weekend. I was thinking the other day when I was on facebook, I have quite a few friends from highschool on there, just people that you know, but never speak to type thing, and it's nice to get updates about their lives without having to organise some big reunion thing.
Well, there is one person on there, and I won't say who [although the likelihood of her ever reading this is miniscule and I want to say something nice anyway..] and she just looks so goddamn happy all the time. And she doesn't just have a few photos, where she's faking it, she has over 500 photos, and she is just grinning away in all of them. Apparently she and her bf have been dating for the last 4 years or whatever, and they've gone to europe together to work and such... and she and her bf just seem to be so happy together, so comfortable with who they are and where they are in their lives.... and I know you can't judge someone's life by just the image they portray on facebook! but whenever I feel glum, I go check out her page, since her smiling face is just contagious, and I think, god, I just want to be that happy, and to be that comfortable with myself - and have 4 years of built up memories with the same person. It'd just be a really, really nice change from the emotional turmoil and drama and upheaval that my life always seems to be in!
Well kiddoes, that's it from me for now :)
ciao voxenators!
This is becoming a bad habit of mine! but nothing really happens that is all that exciting the rest of the week! here is how my week/end was!
Another huge weekend. Here is how it went:
Veneredi
On friday morning I got my hair cut... foils.. the whole bit. I actually hated it - I've never hated a haircut before, but it was way shorter than I was expecting, the colour was a lot less NATURAL than I wanted, and all round, it wasn't what I was expecting at all.
I went to get coffee from starbucks afteward though, and all the baristas said that they liked it, and everyone at my work told me they loved it, but I still wasn't convinced..
here are the before and afters:
Then after work, I met up with W and we walked from his work at World Square to the the Clock hotel for a few drinks before meeting Anna and her new boyfriend Andrew. W bought me this random strawberry, tequila and basil cocktail, that had a large basil leaf floating in it, which was quite bizare, apparently the bartender lady recommended it to him - I have no idea what she was thinking.
Then we met up with them and had a whole lot of tappas plates: chorizo sausages and haloumi cheese and a dip plate, and calimari and edamame beans.. and then pizza!
W and I got home around about one ish, and fed the bunny and then on...
Saturday
we tidied the whole house since my parents were coming back from their cruise on sunday - we mopped and cleaned and hung things up and such, and then treated ourselves to Thai for lunch. Then in the afternoon, we went to mini putt putt golf in Ryde which was heaps of fun, although there were way too many unsupervised children in my opinion!
here's me with the angry/determined cat on one of the holes, with me pretending to be angry, haha:
So saturday night W made me spaghetti bol for dinner (which was fabulous) and then we went to the Grey Stanes Inn for a night of red wine [in my case], buck hunter, cashman pokies and greyhound racing bets on the tab! it was so fun!
We went with Ben who told us all about his trip to Daydream island with his family. It sounded like they had a wonderful time!
And following saturday of course, was....
Sunday!
Today we drove out to The Entrance on the north coast, about an hour and a half (or two) from Sydney, and acted like crazy tourists! first we had fish and chips and fed the seagulls, then we got spray tattoos (he got a tribal one on his left shoulder!!) and THEN, we had coldrock icecream, and had half an hour on an aquabike (pedalo type thing, haha it was heaps of fun!) I really wished that we could have stayed for a few days, just relaxing!
Anyway. Next weekend we're going camping, so hopefully the weather will be good, like it was today.
Yawn. I'm so tired! night night voxers, talk soon!
Why is it, that we always have these plans for ourselves, and they never work out quite like you expected?
Today I had my italian class, and it was really good! by the end I was thinking in italian, and i understand quite a lot of what is being said, although some details go easily over my head, I just don't hear them.
But, that isn't my grand plan. My grand plan is to knit THIS scarf:
What actually happened was, I went to breakfast with Jasmine, and we went upstairs in the village to go to best and less so she could look for work shirts. On the way down we noticed that go-lo has gone into recievership! so I kind of wanted to go in, so I did, and I bought 2 balls of pink wool and a pair of needles. (randomly. As you do!) and so I needed something to knit, and my internet searches found that design. Here is the link to the pattern, which is free:
http://www.knitculture.com/heart-scarf-2/
It's not really that hard of a pattern but unfortunately I've had to unravel mine about 5 times now. I can knit ok, but I can't find mistakes if I make them, so all I can do is rip it all back and start again. Yup. Frustrating.
What else? plans to meet up with Anna and her new bf for dinner on friday with W coming as well. Should be fun! also, having my hair done that morning, seeing alison on thursday morning and tomorrow I need to shower, change my sheets and do a load of washing before work.
So! with that, I'm off to bed, it's already 1:30am here! eek!
It's been such a busy weekend!
Friday
In the morning, I went to MAC U to sell my text book, then I joined mum and dad in their taxi to the city and saw them off on their cruise, and then after work, W and I went out to Pontoon in Darling Harbour for one of his high school friend's birthday. Before I met up with W, I realised that I was wearing exactly the same thing I'd worn last time we saw these friends, and since it was only the second time we'd met, I figured I should maybe see if the shops had anything.
I went to World Square and was browsing around, and I found this bright orange dress, which was so cute! only thing was, it was really short. And I don't normally do super short, although I think I'm still young enough to get away with stupid outfits now and then. But I still wasn't sure, so I rang Jasmine, and she'd just finished work, so she came and judged the dress and we both decided it wasn't TOO short, so I bought it. $14.95. Bargain! W and I had Pizza Hut All you can Eat for dinner, and then met everyone at Pontoon. We left around 1:00, and got home around 1:30.
Saturday
We woke up really late, and then spent the rest of the morning with Willum. Then in the afternoon we drove out to Parramatta and went to the Hogs' Breath Cafe for lunch. I got the most awesome blacked steak with avocado on the side, curly fries, corn on the cob.... yuuuummm...
Then we swung by W's house, picked up some of his home brew, and went on to Bill's House in liverpool for a bbq, played poker and scrabble, watched some X-treme makeover (I love that show!) and the original Jaws movie...
We were going to stay over, but in the end we drove back to W's instead.
Sunday
W had Soundwave concert thing today, so I drove him to that down the road from his house at Eastern Creek, and then I drove home, kissed poor neglected Willum and went to meet Anna for lunch. Too funny, we were supposed meeting in the food court of Bondi Westfield, but Anna wanted my opinion on a dress, so I met her in the myer change rooms. When I was parking the car, I ended up right next to Anna's! who'd have thought?
Anyway, we had lunch at Kelly's, and then we bought a birthday present for one of Anna's friends, and I bought a pack of Tarot cards. It was funny, the woman from the store offered me a card when I was browsing and considering whether to buy the pack, and the one I got was 'Perfect Timing' - so I took it as a sign and bought the damn things, lol Afterward we went grocery shopping so I could buy my ingredients, and then I made baked potato soup (which is soooo good) and anzac biscuits, and now I'm eating strawberry icecream and watching Steel Magnolias.
Tomorrow I have to do my Italian homework, and it's also W's Dad's 60th birthday, so we're having dinner at their house. I'm taking some of the Anzac cookies with me. Phew! so busy!
Anyway. That's it from me! I have to put my leftover soup in the freezer and then get back to my southern Belles!
Ciao Voxers!
My god. This post title sounds like a project name at work, not a 'romantically themed' blog title! anyway.
V Day has come and gone for another year. I hope you were all spoilt by your significant others, and if you had no significant other... then I hope you took the opportunity to do something extra special for the most important person in your life - YOU!
Here's how my weekend went down:
Friday - W turned up after the whole drama with the pizza, and we had a really nice quiet evening.
Saturday - we opened V-Day gifts and shared cards and relaxed at my house all morning. We then had a (Very Romantic) lunch at KFC, and when we returned to the house, a gorgeous bunch of flowers had been delivered for me! they were David Austen roses (which are big, heritage type roses with a beautiful perfume) in pink and white, tied with a dark red ribbon. Of course, we got a photo of willum wearing the ribbon and he looks exactly like a chocolate lindt bunny!
I got W Dolce & Gabbana The One cologne and a Kings of Leon CD. He got me the flowers, and 2 MAC products from the Blonde, Brunette, Redhead collection that only just came out in Australia. He got me the mineralize skinfinish powder in Blonde, and a plushglass in live and dye. The powder is a really pretty pink, which is used as an illuminator/highlighter/blush type thing to give you a pretty glow, and the plushglass is a really gorgeous almost nude pink with just a hint of gold. I was going to take pictures, but I just realised I left the mineralize finishing powder in the car, so I'll wait until I have both of them and do a little photo shoot, haha!
Then W drove us back to his house (via The World! - it was actually kind of fun!) and we got ready and went out for dinner in Parramatta! He took me to a restaurant called La Bella Vista, and they had complimentary champers on arrival, and a special V-Day menu. We didn't get that since the entree was seafood, but we had a lovely meal and then drove home. We WERE going to see a movie at the drive in, but the weather was attrocious, so we went home and watched family guy dvds instead!
Sunday - we watched "I shouldn't be alive" on tv - which was about a young family (20 year old newly weds and their 3 or 4 month old baby) who were stranded in ice and snow for 9 days after their car got stuck in a snow drift. It was really, really horrifying, this ordeal they went through. Then, we went to see Valkyrie at the movies. It's about one of the (20, apparently) assasination attempts on Hitler by various members of the German government and army. I mean. I KNOW it wasn't going to have a happy ending... but it was still quite emotional, not to mention harrowing, watching everything that transpired, but at the same time, it's something that afterward, I was really glad I'd seen. I felt like it was a story that should be told, that no one should forget what these men tried to do. I felt so sad for their wives and children at the end - it's no comfort to them that their husbands, their lovers, or their fathers are gone, even if it was a heroes death. It's the nature of war, but at the same time, I wonder why human beings are so cruel to each other. All in all, it was a bit too much emotional turmoil on the one day for me!
NEXT! after that W had to get ready for Squash, and I was driving back home so I could meet Celia for dinner. We talked about her weekend of crazy valentines day related hours, her sneakiness in helping W organise my present, and also what I'd thought of the flowers she'd organised for him! We also stuffed ourselves with Tiramisu. All round, a good evening had by all.
Tomorrow It's back to work, and tuesday, massages, woohoo! then I'm hopefully selling a text book at some point in the coming week, meeting Jasmine for breakfast and also meeting up with a friend from high school for a little reunion on thursday, unless something comes up unexpectedly. I should also see anna at some point during the week, and probably schedule mum in as well, as the rents are going away for a 10 day cruise as of this friday. I think I'm going to be bored and lonely until they get back!
Other things on my permanent to-do list that I never get around to? I need to sell my wetsuit and snorkel on ebay, I need to find out about my personalised starbucks card, I need to organise a new cinnebuzz card for reward points at the cinema, I need to get my new student concession sticker, AND, I need to find out what's happening re: accomodation for my first week in Rome. Yawn. It all sounds so boring. I was also hoping to ask W for some pointers re: project management, so I can start on my masters dissertation! (hurrah! Note the sarcasm!)
anyway, that's pretty much it. I'm really exhausted all the time lately, so I also have to take some iron tablets I think! but anyway. Night voxers!
Honestly. I do nothing at all exciting during the week, and then do a billion and one things on the weekend! it's crazy!
Well, on saturday, we went to the zoo, as promised. It was awesome! we saw the spider show and the seal show, and the seals did the wrong thing all the time! We had a really great time, although there were two major disappointments - disappointment one: because it was so hot, a lot of the animals were hiding, and couldn't be seen very easily, if at all. They were just lying in the back of their cages, sleeping. Disappointment two: the animal we had gone there specifically to see, the baby pygmy hippo, was not let out, as it was one of the only ovulating days for the mother, and the keepers wanted to breed her with the male. So, grumble!
Then, that evening, we went for dinner at Sizzlers! it was epic! they've gotten rid of those awesome crunchy bacon bit thingies they used to have, but it was still super yummy. I ate so much! spag bol, and potato skins with bolognese sauce and salad and apple crumble... it was awesome. I stayed at W's house and on sunday, after he made me breakfast, we went shopping at Parra. He needed a new squash racquet.
In the afternoon, we shared a KFC Tower burger (it's back!! OMG! original fillet, cheese, tangy tomato sauce, lettuce and a HASH BROWN! - best burger EVER) and afterward, W had squash grading. I was the cheer squad, in between reading the paper (lol).
Afterward, we had a bbq with his whole family, and I met his sister and her new husband, who'd just come back from their honeymoon!
Anyway! it was a nice weekend. Today was pretty quiet, since my boss was away... I caught up on emails about my internship and things, and also to see if my uni supervisors had sent me anything but no news yet.
I am currently waiting on:
- personalised starbucks card.
- myer one card
- bank card (st. geo)
- 2009 concession sticker (ugh, I've been in twice to collect it, and it's STILL not available!)
- priceline card!
And today in the mail I got my myerone $20 gift card! so I'm trying to think of something nice to spend it on! :D
I have had a pretty stressful week, it was awesome that my boss gave me the day off today so that I could go to a uni meeting about my masters project.
The meeting went really well and so now I need to start considering which project I want to do and things.
I can choose to do a research project on 2 possible topics. I need to do some pre-research and see which I think is probably going to be best. My 2 topics are either looting (and repatriation etc) OR sensitivity within museums - what's appropriate, how to handle sensitive topics etc.
Not sure yet which sounds like more fun.
SO! mum and I went down to the coogee bay when I got back this afternoon and had a beer and celebrated not having to work with that jerk anymore (hopefully!)
But, all of that is stuff I don't really want to talk about, since it's not 100% sorted out!
What I wanted to mention was something funny that happened tonight while we were watching tv.
We were watching this fascinating documentary on the historical evidence behind various fairy tales (especially the Grimm brothers ones). Last week was snow white, and this week was the Pied Piper of Hamlin.
Apparently a university in Germany did a study to see if mediaeval flute sounds would actually cause any reaction at all in rats, as (I'm sure most people will know in the story) the piper used his flute to lure the rats away from the town.
They were showing the result of the tests on the documentary - first they tried in a regular frequency, which had no reaction. Then, they played a higher frequency, that was (is?) almost beyond human hearing. What was funny, was that my parents couldn't hear anything at all. I could feel a sensation against my eardrums - a really unpleasant kind of 'scree' noise, although no actual discerable sound. I guess it was just weird, I mean, I've heard about how as you get older, you can hear less, and how there are now ringtones aimed at primary and high school students that they can hear that are inaudible to teachers, but... this was the first example had first hand that this kind of thing was true.
I wonder how long until I wont be able to hear that irritating 'scree'? to be honest it was quite an unpleasant feeling!
Anyway. SUPPOSEDLY W and I are going to the zoo tomorrow. I'm so stoked to see the baby hippo! but I don't want to get too excited in case 1. we don't see it or 2. for some reason our zoo trip is cancelled! hopefully won't be though!
