You know when you go out on friday night, which makes the whole weekend seem like a billion times longer?
well Jasmine had her farewell on friday, I met her after work for drinks at the hotel where she works. Then we met the girls at Crystal Bar, Martin place, and had pizza, cheese and a really nice L'Abruzzo red. Afterward we went to Martin Place bar for more cocktails and dancing to Mickey J. I can't believe the king of pop is really gone. If anyone ever asks me what I was doing the nightMichael Jackson died, I can tell them I was dancing to 'Blame it on the Boogie' in a bar in Martin Place. We got home around midnight, and then...
Saturday
Anna and I did a massive clean of the house - vaccuum, mopping, laundry, everything - so that my parents will come home to a really nice tidy house on wednesday. We went out for coffee at Centennial Park cafe, which has such a nice view, it's really been designed to make the best of the landscape.
Sunday
Anna and I had breakfast at Spicer Street Cafe in Woollahra, which was quite nice, I preferred her egg and bacon roll with cheddar and mayonaise to my organic porridge with strawberries, brown sugar and rhubarb, since mine was a bit too cold.
Afterward, I read the paper and had a nap, and then I met Celia for dinner.
We had thai, and OMG they have fortune cookies now! mine said:
a thrilling time is in your immediate future
woohoo! I hope they mean good thrilling, not bad thrilling!
So, I'm officially venti quattro anni. Today was fun. At work, I got strawberry cheesecake, a fluffy scarf and hat, an adorable pink card with a bunny and cupcakes on it, and an early mark.
Then my friends came over and Jasmine made us roast. As per usual, I'll list my haulings, accompanied by photos!
my grandma:
$200 cheque.
My parents:
my own tarot book to go with my mini-tarot deck.
3 piece jammies set
(they also paid for a lot of my mini laptop, and they're bringing me back a woolen skirt in my clan tartan from their trip to europe that probably cost them an arm and a leg )
my sister:
'woodsmoke' country road bag - I'm stoked about this one, I'm using it as hand luggage and it's almost an exact match for my suitcase
$20 bookstore voucher! yay! books for the plane!
My friends:
J
this gorgeous bag that she said was for 'school' in italy - it's so ME! and it fits my laptop and loads of books and rolls up pretty flat! perfect!
silicone, heatshaped cupcake moulds. Can't wait to try them out!
C (the florist)
these beautiful flowers
voucher for eyebrow, brazilian and underarm wax! I told her I needed/wanted these before I leave for europe
pyjamas with cupcakes on
My work:
matching scarf and hat set. They're really fuzzy/warm!
That's it from me! night from your newly mid 20's blogger! ciao voxies!
It has been a very busy long weekend, and there is still more to come! since I have wednesdays and thursdays off from work now, I got an especially long weekend - wed, thur, fri, sat, sun and monday. Going back to work on tuesday is going to be a little bit hard!
Here is what I did with myself:
Friday
I completed and handed in 2 uni assignments, and went on a 4km bush walk at La Perouse. Afterward I got a softserve icecream covered in pink sherbert, just to relive some childhood memories, haha. I also spent quite a lot of time crocheting a beanie only to realise that the pattern I was using wasn't really all that great, so I had to rip everything out and start again. Most frustrating.
Saturday
I went shopping with my parents to some outlet stores in alexandria. I wasn't expecting to find anything, since they were sports type stores - my dad wanted a pair of tracksuit pants, but as it happened, one of the stores was a lacoste, ben sherman and northface outlet. I was really excited about how cheap the ben sherman stuff was - at least 50% off.
I hadn't intended to, but I bought a fairly netural, wool pencil skirt - it looks grey but in real life it's slightly more brown - and the checks are kind of charcoal. It's really versatile since i'll be able to wear it with brown or beige as well as with black. I also bought a shirt dress. I've always wanted one, but the good quality ones are too expensive, so I've never bothered.
Then in the evening, Jasmine wanted some assistance doing her hair and makeup, as she was doing something special for her bf Andrew's birthday. I did a smokey eye makeup look on her, I've never really done anyone's makeup before, although obviously I do my own all the time, so I as a bit nervous, but she has beautiful bone structure so she was quite easy to make up.
We drank wine and ate cheese and biscuits while I did her makeup, Celia did her nails bright red and we both helped her get dressed in a corset top and such, she looked absolutely gorgeous! When we were getting ready to leave, she gave me a dress that she'd bought - it was too short on her, and she didn't like the place where the belt sat, so she offered it to me! Here it is -
And...
Sunday
Today mum and I went for a walk in the park, followed by an egg hunt in the garden - mum hid 4 easter eggies for me, my dad and my sister, and after we'd found them, we each hid an egg for her to find. It was juvenile but who cares! I love egg hunts more than the chocolate actually, LOL.
After that, Anna and I went for breakfast in Surry Hills, at Bird, Cow Fish. To be honest I didn't enjoy it much, although it was very good value, but they only did fried and poached eggs, and I know I'm weird but I only really like scrambled eggs. Also, the bacon roll I got tasted like it was that kind of thin sliced, fried ham, the kind that has a spicy crust, so it was quite hot. It might have been the bbq sauce or the caramelised onions, but either way, it was a little too spicy for my liking. Plus, my eyes have been super itchy from either allergies to Willum's fur, or quite possibly from hay fever. I mean, so itchy, that you actually want to scratch your eyes out because it's so itchy. Well, I scratched and scratched until I'm pretty sure I dislodged the surface that was cut when I got laser eye surgery. It went all red and swollen and watery. It's much better now, I've put some drops in it and taken some allergy tablets, but I felt like everyone was staring at my creepy red eye, haha!
Tonight I'm supposed to be seeing Celia for dinner. I think I'd like Thai, so I shall have to see if I can persuade her!
Tomorrow? no idea whatsoever, I should probably get started on my uni work! I hope you all had a very happy and safe easter break!
ahhh... coldplay lyrics :) I'm so annoyed, I attempted to write this on sunday night, and my computer crashed, and did not save any drafts. I was so irritated, I hate having to rewrite posts!
Here is what happened on the weekend.
Friday - cocktails with Anna, call from #2, passed out in their bed, let's not talk about it.
Saturday - super hungover (and I never seem to learn) breakfast slash lunch with Anna, then hired Legally Blonde and had a girly video night. By myself.
Sunday - walk in Centennial park with mum in the morning, then read the paper and my book in Hyde Park in the city while mum and dad bought zip-off pants from a hiking shop (the ones that you can turn into shorts - for their trip to Europe). Then I met up with them at the Quay for a cheese platter and drinks in the sun. The weather was incredible. Sunday night met up with the girls and had Thai for dinner, followed by Teascapes for tea.
This week is the first week of my reduced shifts, and I have soo much uni work to do! I have wed and thus off, so hopefully I can get a good bit of it done.
Anyway, that's it for me, I feel like I had way more to say in my previous version of this post, but now I can't remember! anyway, I need sleeeeep for tomorrow!
Ciao Voxxies!
mm. Just some Sneaky Sound System lyrics there...
so today, W and I broke it off. As I said, we had that huge fight on friday, and I felt like he totally thought of me as some evil, manipulative bitch. But today, I met up with Anna and her friend Wendy, and we had breakfast at Brighton Le Sands, and they made me feel a lot better and helped me out when I got an sms from him. I organised to meet up at Parramatta, and exchange belongings and talk.
So I drove over there this afternoon, and we had the rational, non-hurtful conversation we should have had about 2 weeks ago. We decided to be friends and see how things go. I'm sure we've all had that 'be friends' situation, where afterward, they (or you) do something hurtful because the boundaries between what is friend behaviour, and what is partner behaviour are blurred, or just difficult to determine, and each of you has different expectations - and that may still happen, but at the moment, although it's been really hard, I'm actually happy with how things have gone. I really hope he doesn't let me down by treating me badly in this post breakup phase but he's a good guy so I hope he wont.
We basically decided to just keep in contact, be friends, see what happens, and go from there. I was really proud of myself for keeping it together and not crying. Then I met up with the girls for dinner, and we went to the usual Italian place and got drunk on sparkling wine. I kind of felt bad for W, he had to go to Kari's girlfriend's 'Casual Glam' party and explain to everyone why I wasn't there. Ha! (I know, it's impossible not to be just a little bit glad about that, lol - not to mention, wtf is casual glam?! to me, thats the kind of term that people use when they just want everyone to feel like they're dressed wrong - so you feel good about yourself and everyone else is wondering wtf is appropriate to wear! whatever! - that's my rant, and I'm sticking to it! lol!)
Soooo.. yes. I seem to be dealing better than even I expected. Maybe my heart is just frozen. There are only a certain number of times you can experience this kind of pain before your body just shuts down.
On the plus side, I got my stuff back, including the cute little tofu toys I won at Capitol Square on wednesday! woo! they're valentines day themed, with one that is chocolate coloured, with white hearts on the top, and another, that is pink, with a little red heart on it's forehead. I'd take pictures but it's too much work at this point in my life. I still have to photograph my cute 'spread the love' tshirt from palmercash.com. I'll get around to it.
On saturday, Jasmine and I went to the Paddington markets, and that was really fun too! I'm seeing her tomorrow for breakfast so I should probably go to bed now... yawn... so tired!
Happy Australia day everyone :)
What have I been up to this long weekend?
Saturday I had breakfast with my sister, and then W called and asked if I wanted to come out his way for lunch with some of his friends to celebrate someone finishing their apprenticeship. So, I hopped on a train and W picked me up from the station. We went to the Merrylands RSL for an all you can eat lunch, and then went to W's friend Ben's house for beer, poker, yahtzee, taboo, moustrap and such, lol!
My plan was that I'd leave at around 6, get home around 7, 7:30. Instead, we got involved in an intricate drinking game and ended up getting a lift to W's house from Kari. On sunday, we'd planned on going to the zoo, but since I'd stayed over at W's without any stuff, we would have had to go all the way to my house, I'd get ready, then we'd head out to the zoo, etc, and I figured, by the time we do all of that, we'd get to the zoo too late.
So, the plan was to do it next weekend instead. I think W usually goes for work drinks on fridays, so maybe he can stay over friday night and we can go on saturday. I really really want to see the baby hippo that's on display there :D
Anyway. Instead of the zoo we went to parklea markets and wandered around. It was fun, but somehow really really exhausting. Anyway, W drove me home a bit later and I went out for dinner with Celia, since one of the J's was away on holiday, and the other was at work.
Anyway! monday! OZ DAY!
W and I had this epic BBQ at my house, and then we checked out the motorshow that the NRMA holds every year in the city. Originally we were supposed to be having a bbq out his way, but his friends were busy, so he came out to see me instead.
after looking at the motorshow, we drove down to coogee for coffee, which was really enjoyable. W left pretty early as he has work tomorrow.
There's some uni stuff going on atm as well, but I'm just too tired and annoyed about it to get into detail about it all, haha.
And, I'll try to update more often.
Night night voxers!
I always mean to write in this more often, but lately I've been too busy actually LIVING to get around to it, you know? but then you forget how you felt when things happened, which is why you're keeping the journal in the first place!
So. Thursday you would not believe it - my wallet disappeared somewhere between starbucks and work. I haven't decided yet whether someone stole it out of my bag, whether it fell out, or WHAT, because I have been super, extra, outrageously careful. Mum and I decided that it was cursed, and when you think about it, I should have totally gotten rid of it after the second loss-and-return. I figured 3rd time this has happened, I'm totally unlikely to have it returned!
So. Personalised starbucks with $40 on it
$40 gift card for myers gone! all my various cards and my student id and my NEW LISENCE THAT I ONLY JUST RENEWED WITH A HALF DECENT PHOTO. Sigh. I've replaced that and the new photo is awful!
Anyway. I went and bought a new one in the sales from Oroton - $195 down to $135 - I figure if the last one really was cursed, then oroton aren't the kind of company that would stand for that kind of things from their goods, LOL, so maybe it will be ok. It's also cream, so it doesn't match the interior of my bag - which is perfect - I think I used to assume that my wallet was in there, since it was the same colour as the inner lining of the bag - when in reality it wasn't!
The whole 'losing my wallet for the 3rd time in as many months' thing is really getting old, so I hope this is the last time for the next 50 odd years! if ever! It was so humiliating, my credit ran out and I couldn't get home with no money, so I had to call my sister using 1800 REVERSE (reverse charges number) on a payphone! I haven't had to do that since I was about 13 years old, LOL.
Luckily, Anna was coming into the city anyway, so she gave me some money to get home.
Then Friday we had a work meeting and I told my boss that I may be going overseas for my internship!!! She was really gracious about everything, so I was really really relieved.
Saturday I went for lunch with W at Parramatta, we had Oporto's chicken burgers next to the river. It was really quite nice. I wast hinking, since he had to get a flight today (sunday) I would have lunch, and leave him to pack and relax on saturday night, but in the end, I spent over 12 hours with him, chatting and shopping and eating and such. I had a really lovely time, even though I was massively tired this morning.
Then today, Sunday, I had coffee with mum quickly at Randwick, and then Anna collected me for barefoot lawnbowls at Clovelly. It was awesome! such good weather... the girls and their boys showed up, and so did some of Anna's friends, and W came after the go-karting party he went to this morning, having won first prize, hehe! Anyway, Celia and I bbqed, and then everyone ate and drank beer and bowled and it was heaps of fun! I better start saving now for my retirement - I'm so going to join a bowling club! It was crazy, we saw a wild rabbit too!
Then we went on to the Clovelly Hotel and had dinner, and then Anna drove me back home, after having a quick coffee at coogee beach.
When we got back, Willum [who didn't seem to have eating much last night, and was kind of lethargic all day] didn't seem any better, so we took him to the 24 hour emergency vet in Crowsnest. They decided they'd like to keep him in under observation last night, so that they can feed him up and make sure he's hydrated. I'm really worried about him, and more than that, I really, really miss him - he usually clomps around his cage or sits on my feet, near my chair... I just miss him, even though it's only one night. I guess that's why I'm writing this - I'm really tired but I just can't sleep!
Anyway, we should get a call early tomorrow from the specialist rabbit vet who'll tell us what might be wrong with him.
I should probably go and try to sleep - he's going to be calling us at 8:00am! eek!
lots of love,
Rosie

Just to get the sad news over and done with first...
My great auntie (Bunty) passed away on friday. Since all my relatives live overseas, it's not like I got to see her very often, maybe only once every 5 years or so, but she always remembered christmases and birthdays when I was little and would send a card with a cheque in it. I'm sad that she's gone and I'll miss her.
Moving on from that, the girls and I (C and Jaz) wanted a change, so we had dinner and drinks at Cushion Lounge Bar in Coogee.
I got pictures of the cocktails I had:
Humble Beginnings (mocktail)
pink grapefruit juice, rosewater, strawberries, ginger beer
and a strawberry Caprioska:
Muddled limes, strawberries, vodka, chambord, fraise de boise & gomme
We had a really good time! and we also organised to have a dinner party at my house in a few weeks. I'm not sure what to make for everyone.
I've also been watching too many trashy tv shows.
First, Weddings: Where are they Now
The original show aired in the 90's and followed real life couples as they planned their weddings. The show I was watching showed clips from the original show (I still can't believe it's been 10 years!) and also showed what's happened to them since.
Then, on youtube, I accidentally stumbled across this crazy Korean show called We Got Married
From what I can tell, and according to wiki, (I was watching with subtitles, lol!) it's a reality tv show where they pair off a group of celebrities into couples that have to live together and pretend they are married. I think that they have to do challenges and maybe get judged on them too. It's very funny and really random.
yawn. I was going to post this last night but I was so tired I forgot.
