Ok! I took pictures! how cute is this tshirt:
and, for hugging, these adorable tofu toys W and I won from capitol square last wednesday. That place is so addictive!
It's my parent's 41st Wedding anniversary today! we're having a special dinner to celebrate. AND! did I say that I found somewhere online that stocked Africa Mango Superbalm?!
It's this stuff:
I highly recommend it, so if you can get a hold of it, definitely grab it! it's super super moisturisng, it smells awesome, and it's from Japan. Epic stuff. I bought 2 pots from adambeauty.com, and I can't wait for them to turn up! hopefully not too long now!!
Another huge weekend. Here is how it went:
Veneredi
On friday morning I got my hair cut... foils.. the whole bit. I actually hated it - I've never hated a haircut before, but it was way shorter than I was expecting, the colour was a lot less NATURAL than I wanted, and all round, it wasn't what I was expecting at all.
I went to get coffee from starbucks afteward though, and all the baristas said that they liked it, and everyone at my work told me they loved it, but I still wasn't convinced..
here are the before and afters:
Then after work, I met up with W and we walked from his work at World Square to the the Clock hotel for a few drinks before meeting Anna and her new boyfriend Andrew. W bought me this random strawberry, tequila and basil cocktail, that had a large basil leaf floating in it, which was quite bizare, apparently the bartender lady recommended it to him - I have no idea what she was thinking.
Then we met up with them and had a whole lot of tappas plates: chorizo sausages and haloumi cheese and a dip plate, and calimari and edamame beans.. and then pizza!
W and I got home around about one ish, and fed the bunny and then on...
Saturday
we tidied the whole house since my parents were coming back from their cruise on sunday - we mopped and cleaned and hung things up and such, and then treated ourselves to Thai for lunch. Then in the afternoon, we went to mini putt putt golf in Ryde which was heaps of fun, although there were way too many unsupervised children in my opinion!
here's me with the angry/determined cat on one of the holes, with me pretending to be angry, haha:
So saturday night W made me spaghetti bol for dinner (which was fabulous) and then we went to the Grey Stanes Inn for a night of red wine [in my case], buck hunter, cashman pokies and greyhound racing bets on the tab! it was so fun!
We went with Ben who told us all about his trip to Daydream island with his family. It sounded like they had a wonderful time!
And following saturday of course, was....
Sunday!
Today we drove out to The Entrance on the north coast, about an hour and a half (or two) from Sydney, and acted like crazy tourists! first we had fish and chips and fed the seagulls, then we got spray tattoos (he got a tribal one on his left shoulder!!) and THEN, we had coldrock icecream, and had half an hour on an aquabike (pedalo type thing, haha it was heaps of fun!) I really wished that we could have stayed for a few days, just relaxing!
Anyway. Next weekend we're going camping, so hopefully the weather will be good, like it was today.
Yawn. I'm so tired! night night voxers, talk soon!
It's been such a busy weekend!
Friday
In the morning, I went to MAC U to sell my text book, then I joined mum and dad in their taxi to the city and saw them off on their cruise, and then after work, W and I went out to Pontoon in Darling Harbour for one of his high school friend's birthday. Before I met up with W, I realised that I was wearing exactly the same thing I'd worn last time we saw these friends, and since it was only the second time we'd met, I figured I should maybe see if the shops had anything.
I went to World Square and was browsing around, and I found this bright orange dress, which was so cute! only thing was, it was really short. And I don't normally do super short, although I think I'm still young enough to get away with stupid outfits now and then. But I still wasn't sure, so I rang Jasmine, and she'd just finished work, so she came and judged the dress and we both decided it wasn't TOO short, so I bought it. $14.95. Bargain! W and I had Pizza Hut All you can Eat for dinner, and then met everyone at Pontoon. We left around 1:00, and got home around 1:30.
Saturday
We woke up really late, and then spent the rest of the morning with Willum. Then in the afternoon we drove out to Parramatta and went to the Hogs' Breath Cafe for lunch. I got the most awesome blacked steak with avocado on the side, curly fries, corn on the cob.... yuuuummm...
Then we swung by W's house, picked up some of his home brew, and went on to Bill's House in liverpool for a bbq, played poker and scrabble, watched some X-treme makeover (I love that show!) and the original Jaws movie...
We were going to stay over, but in the end we drove back to W's instead.
Sunday
W had Soundwave concert thing today, so I drove him to that down the road from his house at Eastern Creek, and then I drove home, kissed poor neglected Willum and went to meet Anna for lunch. Too funny, we were supposed meeting in the food court of Bondi Westfield, but Anna wanted my opinion on a dress, so I met her in the myer change rooms. When I was parking the car, I ended up right next to Anna's! who'd have thought?
Anyway, we had lunch at Kelly's, and then we bought a birthday present for one of Anna's friends, and I bought a pack of Tarot cards. It was funny, the woman from the store offered me a card when I was browsing and considering whether to buy the pack, and the one I got was 'Perfect Timing' - so I took it as a sign and bought the damn things, lol Afterward we went grocery shopping so I could buy my ingredients, and then I made baked potato soup (which is soooo good) and anzac biscuits, and now I'm eating strawberry icecream and watching Steel Magnolias.
Tomorrow I have to do my Italian homework, and it's also W's Dad's 60th birthday, so we're having dinner at their house. I'm taking some of the Anzac cookies with me. Phew! so busy!
Anyway. That's it from me! I have to put my leftover soup in the freezer and then get back to my southern Belles!
Ciao Voxers!
Ugghhhh.... LOOOOOONG day. Stupid Friday the 13th. I accidentally forgot to do something at work, and I didn't realise until I got home pretty much, so I called Jasmine, and asked her if she'd like to come back with me. I went and collected her, and then we drove into the city and up into the office. We accidentally set the alarm off, but we called the security people and got that sorted (despite some serious ear damage) and then got what I'd forgotten done and left.
So. Phew. Done. AND THEN! W is flying in from Perth, so I said I'd organise a pizza for him in case he's hungry when he arrives. So, I called them, and they were going to charge me $28.95 for one pizza, and a $7.95 box of ice cream. Like, what?! on their website, you can order 3 large pizzas and a 1.25 litre drink for that price! so I was at a loss as to why you'd pay that much! so I rang them back, and cancelled my order, and instead organised pick up. So, I'm now paying $6.95 for one pizza. I only hope it's not some tiny teeny little pizza, since I wanted a large! but seriously, who has such massively varying prices between online and on the phone? how retarded! and now I have to walk or drive down to the corner store (which is no joke, 2-5 mins) to collect the pizza, since delivery was so outrageous!
And, even more funny, when I originally called up, I put my phone number in and they know your previous orders. So they asked me what name I'd like the order under - Anna, Carter, Jasmine or (someone else I forget now). And I was thinking, what the hell?! since when on earth did Jasmine order pizza at my house?! And even weirder, Carter?! that's my first boyfriend's last name! And he wouldn't have been ordering pizza at my house since like, 2002! crazy!
Anyway. I have to go pick up W's pizza now. I hope he enjoys it after all this randomness that occurred in my quest to purchase it!
Ciao for now!
I never ever get tagged to do those funny questionaires or weird fact thingoes. So, I'm going to do it WITHOUT being tagged! SO THERE!
Usually the rules are that you have to tag 25 kajillion other people, including the person who sent it to you, but I don't know that many people. And if I did, they wouldn't participate anyway! But here is my list of weird facts. Let's see how many I can think of that are in the 'you might not know' this category:
1. I truly believe that I have learnt from every single one of the 6 (fairly) longterm relationships I've been in. Sometimes what I learnt was, that my ex is/was a complete asshole. Haha. Just kidding. But seriously, I've learnt a lot and I wouldn't take back those experiences, as they've helped me to become the person I am today.
2. I did singing training for about 3 years in highschool. I got pretty good, but after I stopped, I reverted to less than brilliant warbling. I still adore singing, and sing in the car, at home alone, under my breath at work...
3. In some areas of my life, I'm insanely, Nazi-ishly organised. I have colour coded book and dvd collections, and my diary has a complex colour AND symbol system that involves coloured flags and highlighters. I love my little bit of maddness.
4. As if to counteract my nazi style organisation of some things, I totally suck at overall tidying - because I'm such a perfectionist, I get upset if things don't have their own exact place, become overwhelmed and give up. This means that you should open my wardrobe/s very, very carefully.
5. Whenever I go for coffee with my sister, or in fact, with pretty much any friend, I like to read the symbols in the foam of my cup as a prediction of my future, and then swap with whoever I'm with and read theirs!
6. I can speak very small amounts of Japanese, Italian, Greek, and read small amounts of hieroglyphic text.
7. I am a tea fanatic. I prefer loose leaf, and I feel strongly about people putting milk in expensive tea - how can you taste the delicate flavours?! it's a culinary experience!!
8. I like my steak [all meats really] somewhat BURNT on the outside. And it should be pink [rather than red] the whole way through, if not actually brown
9. I hate dust catching ornaments with a passion. I'm very specific about the ornaments I have in my home - they have to have some particular meaning to me. And, even then, I hate the way they catch dust. Drives me crazy!
10. I like to match the colour of my coffee cup at work with whatever colour I'm wearing that day.
11. I believe that there is no such thing as too many shoes, belts, makeup products or books.
12. Speaking of books, I HAVE to read. I read all the time. If I'm sitting down doing nothing at home, and I notice a book next to me, I'll sneak it. My mum knows this and always comes to me first if she can't find her library books.
13. I would rather tidy my bathroom than make my bed. It's up against a wall on 2 sides and I absolutely hate making it.
14. I believe that perfumes can be associated with colours - for me, gucci 2 and miss dior - cherie, will always be 'pink' scents and I'm most likely to wear them when I am wearing pink clothing. Michael Kors - Hawaii is orange or yellow. Lost Mar'ch - Ael Mat makes me think of soft purples or blue.
15. I adore history. I get a kind of tingle when I read letters people wrote to each other in ancient times. It's completely irrational, but it's why I study what I study!
16. I did a double degree in Science and Arts - A BABSc in Natural History, Culture and Museum Studies, and now I'm halfway through a Masters in Museum Studies. I'd love to do a PhD one day, but I'm itching to get out there and earn money!
17. I've travelled a lot for someone my age I guess - my grandparents living in England meant that we went to visit them every few years. I've been to Egypt and Thailand, England, Scotland, Wales, Italy, Switzerland, America, France... there are heaps of places I want to go back to though, and many places I want to see for the first time!
18. I'm going to do an internship in Italy. I'll be living by myself for the first time in my life for 6 whole months, speaking a language I barely know, doing a job I'm not sure I'm qualified for! I'm absolutely terrified, but I knew I had to do this, I'm hoping that it's something that will change my life in such a positive way, if it doesn't kill me!
19. I love watching Bob Ross videos on youtube. He had the most relaxing voice in the history of relaxing voices.
20. I read the sunday papers every week, religiously. I have an order too. First I flip through the main section. Then I read the comics, followed by the weddings, and try to decide who is most likely to get divorced. Then, I read through good weekend, apart from the starsigns. Then I read through body and soul, and finish off with the two starsign pages - the good weekend star signs, and the page from body and soul. I do the same with mx - I have a very specific reading order!
21. I got laser eye surgery at the end of 2007 (I think?). Until then I had really quite bad vision and I wore contact lenses. Now, I have perfect vision and I love every minute of it, although the surgery itself was perhaps one of the single most painful experiences in my life.
22. I've always loved the internet. I've had a blog since the end of 2000, and before and after that, I hosted websites, participated in email newsgroups and such... I used to do so much HTML that I'd dream in code. I still love the internet, although I no longer have crazy coding dreams! At the moment, I moderate on a makeup website, as well as maintain this blog!
23. I think all you can eat buffets are just too exciting for words, and I love those crunchy red bacon bits that used to be at pizza hut and sizzlers restaurants. Too bad they got rid of them :( And, I know this is weird, but I hardly ever eat pizza at all you can eat pizza hut. I always have the pasta, the sides, the dessert, and no pizza!
24. when I was little, I wanted to be a stand up comedian. That was until I started to get super anxious about public speaking, and I'm not even all that funny, so screw that idea!
25. LUCKY LAST YAY!! I was born at 12 noon on the change over date, so I am directly on the cusp of Gemini and Cancer. This means I'm outgoing and talkative on the outside, cynical, easily hurt and emotional on the inside, I guess, LOL!
Hope you enjoyed my 25 things! I challenge you to post your own!
I have had a pretty stressful week, it was awesome that my boss gave me the day off today so that I could go to a uni meeting about my masters project.
The meeting went really well and so now I need to start considering which project I want to do and things.
I can choose to do a research project on 2 possible topics. I need to do some pre-research and see which I think is probably going to be best. My 2 topics are either looting (and repatriation etc) OR sensitivity within museums - what's appropriate, how to handle sensitive topics etc.
Not sure yet which sounds like more fun.
SO! mum and I went down to the coogee bay when I got back this afternoon and had a beer and celebrated not having to work with that jerk anymore (hopefully!)
But, all of that is stuff I don't really want to talk about, since it's not 100% sorted out!
What I wanted to mention was something funny that happened tonight while we were watching tv.
We were watching this fascinating documentary on the historical evidence behind various fairy tales (especially the Grimm brothers ones). Last week was snow white, and this week was the Pied Piper of Hamlin.
Apparently a university in Germany did a study to see if mediaeval flute sounds would actually cause any reaction at all in rats, as (I'm sure most people will know in the story) the piper used his flute to lure the rats away from the town.
They were showing the result of the tests on the documentary - first they tried in a regular frequency, which had no reaction. Then, they played a higher frequency, that was (is?) almost beyond human hearing. What was funny, was that my parents couldn't hear anything at all. I could feel a sensation against my eardrums - a really unpleasant kind of 'scree' noise, although no actual discerable sound. I guess it was just weird, I mean, I've heard about how as you get older, you can hear less, and how there are now ringtones aimed at primary and high school students that they can hear that are inaudible to teachers, but... this was the first example had first hand that this kind of thing was true.
I wonder how long until I wont be able to hear that irritating 'scree'? to be honest it was quite an unpleasant feeling!
Anyway. SUPPOSEDLY W and I are going to the zoo tomorrow. I'm so stoked to see the baby hippo! but I don't want to get too excited in case 1. we don't see it or 2. for some reason our zoo trip is cancelled! hopefully won't be though!
Yay! Christmas!
lol, funniest thing ever, so I went out to the Greystanes Inn last night to meet up with W, and we had a lovely time, leaving at around 10:00 ish. Turns out, an hour or so after we left, there was a huge brawl! check out the news story:

Twelve police cars were on the scene at Merrylands Road, along with Polair and the police dog squad.

Inquiries are continuing into how the fight started but police said no arrests were made.
Hotel staff declined to comment.

I'm never going to live this one down
Now, on to christmas! I hope everyone had a wonderful day, mine was lovely, just relaxing and fun. Here was the haul:
From M+D:
jim jams (the winter ones are from my grandma actually)
map of rome and rome guidebook (lol)
red tshirt
tiffany necklace
these hilarious underpants - the ones with the bows on are cute, and
then that denim pair are patterned to look exactly like short shorts -
I thought they'd look totally fake on, but really, they look EXACTLY
LIKE DENIM! disturbing!
italian cookbook
aaand
a facemask
from my sister:
2 mac shadows - honey lust and beauty marked
pink singlet top
OPI colour - Mimosas for Mr and Mrs (I ADORE this colour and the name especially!)
My friends and I are exchanging gifts next week
(seriously though, how creepy are those underpants!)
OMG. Woah. I have had a hell of a crazy week! let me tell you aaaall about it!
So. Where were we up to? Oh yeah. No photos of my novelty earrings.... but I did get a shot of all the presents I brought home from work today!
Then my boss gave me some things that she bought in Cambodia & vietnam - that gorgeous scarf you can see there, it's beautiful! and, that black bag with the lucky coins attached to it... aaand a voucher to use at a hair place (I wanted to get my hair done in the new year anyway, so I was excited!)
And we also got a present from our company - a hamper! this is what it had inside: some fruit jellies, some salted peanuts, a little tiny christmas pudding, a box of chocolates, a mini bottle of wine, some of those traditional ginger biscuits that Alison loves and a miniature xmas cake! so cute!
As well as that, at the Christmas party, we had to buy a $10.00 gift. I got a vanilla scented candle (which smells really good actually! I'm burning it right now!) and some chocolates.
So all in all, I got away with some really nice gifts!
So that was all at the christmas party! and then afterward I went out with Matalena, Rosie, and Rosie's friend from PNG. I got home around 1:30 after going home on the BUS! I've never been home that late by myself. It was one of the last buses going, and SO many people got pulled off it for not paying the right amount!
Anyway. So I was hungover and tired on saturday, and I thought, great. I have to do this aaaaall again tonight. So I drove out to Charlie's house, and alison was supposed to already be there. But she was getting a lift with Lisa and Rob, and Rob was late, so they were stuck at Lisa's house waiting for him.
So Charlie and I chatted to his mum for a bit and then went and picked up Kari and his brother on our way to the Albion in Parramatta.
And in the car, they asked if I was single, and then argued about who had hotter friends and which I'd pick, and I was like, uhhh... do I get a choice?
So when we arrived there are a huge heap of guys that they've been chatting about in the car, everyone is pretty much well over 5 foot 7, so at least a few inches on my 5 foot 5, men only, talking about cricket. Greaaat. I had no idea what was going on.
And then Alison and Lisa arrive, and they are normally taller than me anyway, but because I cut my feet to ribbons on friday night, I was wearing flats, and they're both wearing killer heels, so I'm looking tiny compared to them. And it was sooo loud in this place that everyone had to bend down to hear me, which made me feel like a child, haha!
One of Kari's friends was like 6 foot 4! so I'm trying to talk to him, and I had to full launch myself onto my tiptoes and grip his arm so I could reach, since you really had to scream into each other's ears to be heard.
We all had a lot to drink. We got back to Charlie's at around 2:30am I think? god I am feeling sick just thinking about it. Woke up the next day, and realised that I didn't have my wallet. Great.
So, we rang the place, called Charlie's friends who'd given us a lift home etc etc...
no luck.
Then yesterday night, after dinner with the girls, sobbing about how I had $150 in cash in that wallet and OMG what about my personalised starbucks card....
Celia was driving us all over to Jasmine's bf's house to drop her off, and video ezy called. I very rarely answer a call if I don't recognise the number but I thought it just might be someone else. So I'm thinking, I don't have any videos out?
AND!!! they were calling to say that the people from the Albion got their number from my video store card! THEY HAD MY WALLET!! I called the guy an angel and he laughed, and then I called the albion and also called the guy on the phone there an angel, and he called me the luckiest woman in sydney, (although secretly I think just the stupidest!)
so this morning I drove all the way out to Parramatta and picked it up. AND! It had the $150 inside! whoever handed it in or found it has got to be OMG super honest. I know they probably won't ever read this... BUT OMG THANKYOU!!!!
(phew this is long! almost done!) so yeah. Then work today, brought all those presents home. And! I have a date tomorrow. I will see how things go and if they work out I will spill the proverbial beans :D wish me luck!
buonanotte voxies!
UGH!!!
Where do I start!!!!
well, yesterday we had that special surprise dinner for Alison.... I didn't get to upload the pics I got on my way! The Rocks is one of the older areas of Sydney, and I thought the Christmas decorations were so pretty!
AND THEN!!!!
Tonight, Celia and I saw twilight after 'dinner' at max brenner... (read: banana bread, melted chocolate and strawberries)!!!! (!!!!)
lol.
CHECK OUT THIS SIGN!!! Twi-light. Hmm!
anyway!!! OMG my FAVOURITE part was at the end. [with her neck]. Not to spoil anything, haha!
I have to say, a good portion of the movie made me giggle, not because it was funny, but just because it was hard to take seriously. I have to say though, I enjoyed every minute of Bellward (Edlla?) screen time! they really did have amazing chemistry.
BUT!!! sadly, the most memorable part of the evening was when I accidentally lost our parking ticket and was freaking out thinking we would be stuck in the parking lot, or that we'd have to pay like $80 for a lost ticket!! But when I pressed the intercom button at the exit gate, the man said he'd let me out without a charge. What a sweetie. PHEW! I felt like such a FOOL!
Actually, that was the most memorable part until I turned around a minute ago and saw Willum's head sticking out from underneath the bed. My bed is like, max 2 inches off the floor, and I was sure that he was STUCK under there. I'm not strong enough to hold the bed up with one hand while I help him out so I was like, wtf, what am I going to do! but he finally squeezed his way out himself. I think he's getting too big to fit under there! hopefully he won't get stuck again! and I got a cramp in my leg when I was trying to lift the bed! fool animal!
You know that feeling, where you enjoy being close to someone so much, you have to move away if they come too close? Like there is an electric current that thrills through your whole body and you have to get away from them?
