More photos and news after I come home tonight! Ciao for now voxies, I have to go pick Alison up from the bus stop!
I met up with Alison today and we went to the Estee Lauder corporate store. Honestly whenever I go there, I'm like a kid in a candy store. I whittled my total down from $285 to $160, so I was really pleased with myself, since I'd set a budget of $200.
I got:
DKNY Red Delicious mini size (15mL)
Clinique superpowder double face powder in matte ivory (I hope it won't be too light)
MAC spiced chocolate quad
clinique shimmering tones powder in pink chocolate
2 mac eyeshadows in BARK as backups for my shattered one! (this was a definite splurge but I do love this colour, it's so useful!)
clinique high impact mascara
clinique black honey almost lipstick
and some free samplage:
2 origins checks and balances frothy facewash
3 Dr Andrew Weil plantidote mega-mushroom eye serums
The clinique shimmering tones powder, the high impact mascara and the black honey lipstick came in a pack together - they were such incredible value! Altogether they were $35, which is $1 cheaper than the retail price for the lipstick by itself! and I really really wanted to try black honey.
The spiced choc palette was another bargain, I love the colours. And I almost fainted when I saw rose blanc AND bark for sale but I limited myself to 2 barks, and didn't get any other colours, lol!
Afterward we went for huuuuge, mouthwateringly good takeaway burgers from Hurricanes in Bondi, and then for coffee and wandering at Bondi Junction westfield. I think I've found the bag I'd like to take to Italy with me. I just got a really good feeling about it and the price is right. It's the kind of bag that I'd feel secure with - not in the sense that no one could get into it or anything, I'm sure they could - more, I just got a really strong intuitive sense that it's the bag I should buy! stupid, but the price is right, it's the right size... I just really want it!
Can't wait to play more with my makeup! I love buying this stuff, can't wait to do a spiced chocolate eye!
Anyway. That's all my news for now. Ciao darlings!
It has been a very busy long weekend, and there is still more to come! since I have wednesdays and thursdays off from work now, I got an especially long weekend - wed, thur, fri, sat, sun and monday. Going back to work on tuesday is going to be a little bit hard!
Here is what I did with myself:
Friday
I completed and handed in 2 uni assignments, and went on a 4km bush walk at La Perouse. Afterward I got a softserve icecream covered in pink sherbert, just to relive some childhood memories, haha. I also spent quite a lot of time crocheting a beanie only to realise that the pattern I was using wasn't really all that great, so I had to rip everything out and start again. Most frustrating.
Saturday
I went shopping with my parents to some outlet stores in alexandria. I wasn't expecting to find anything, since they were sports type stores - my dad wanted a pair of tracksuit pants, but as it happened, one of the stores was a lacoste, ben sherman and northface outlet. I was really excited about how cheap the ben sherman stuff was - at least 50% off.
I hadn't intended to, but I bought a fairly netural, wool pencil skirt - it looks grey but in real life it's slightly more brown - and the checks are kind of charcoal. It's really versatile since i'll be able to wear it with brown or beige as well as with black. I also bought a shirt dress. I've always wanted one, but the good quality ones are too expensive, so I've never bothered.
Then in the evening, Jasmine wanted some assistance doing her hair and makeup, as she was doing something special for her bf Andrew's birthday. I did a smokey eye makeup look on her, I've never really done anyone's makeup before, although obviously I do my own all the time, so I as a bit nervous, but she has beautiful bone structure so she was quite easy to make up.
We drank wine and ate cheese and biscuits while I did her makeup, Celia did her nails bright red and we both helped her get dressed in a corset top and such, she looked absolutely gorgeous! When we were getting ready to leave, she gave me a dress that she'd bought - it was too short on her, and she didn't like the place where the belt sat, so she offered it to me! Here it is -
And...
Sunday
Today mum and I went for a walk in the park, followed by an egg hunt in the garden - mum hid 4 easter eggies for me, my dad and my sister, and after we'd found them, we each hid an egg for her to find. It was juvenile but who cares! I love egg hunts more than the chocolate actually, LOL.
After that, Anna and I went for breakfast in Surry Hills, at Bird, Cow Fish. To be honest I didn't enjoy it much, although it was very good value, but they only did fried and poached eggs, and I know I'm weird but I only really like scrambled eggs. Also, the bacon roll I got tasted like it was that kind of thin sliced, fried ham, the kind that has a spicy crust, so it was quite hot. It might have been the bbq sauce or the caramelised onions, but either way, it was a little too spicy for my liking. Plus, my eyes have been super itchy from either allergies to Willum's fur, or quite possibly from hay fever. I mean, so itchy, that you actually want to scratch your eyes out because it's so itchy. Well, I scratched and scratched until I'm pretty sure I dislodged the surface that was cut when I got laser eye surgery. It went all red and swollen and watery. It's much better now, I've put some drops in it and taken some allergy tablets, but I felt like everyone was staring at my creepy red eye, haha!
Tonight I'm supposed to be seeing Celia for dinner. I think I'd like Thai, so I shall have to see if I can persuade her!
Tomorrow? no idea whatsoever, I should probably get started on my uni work! I hope you all had a very happy and safe easter break!
My god. This post title sounds like a project name at work, not a 'romantically themed' blog title! anyway.
V Day has come and gone for another year. I hope you were all spoilt by your significant others, and if you had no significant other... then I hope you took the opportunity to do something extra special for the most important person in your life - YOU!
Here's how my weekend went down:
Friday - W turned up after the whole drama with the pizza, and we had a really nice quiet evening.
Saturday - we opened V-Day gifts and shared cards and relaxed at my house all morning. We then had a (Very Romantic) lunch at KFC, and when we returned to the house, a gorgeous bunch of flowers had been delivered for me! they were David Austen roses (which are big, heritage type roses with a beautiful perfume) in pink and white, tied with a dark red ribbon. Of course, we got a photo of willum wearing the ribbon and he looks exactly like a chocolate lindt bunny!
I got W Dolce & Gabbana The One cologne and a Kings of Leon CD. He got me the flowers, and 2 MAC products from the Blonde, Brunette, Redhead collection that only just came out in Australia. He got me the mineralize skinfinish powder in Blonde, and a plushglass in live and dye. The powder is a really pretty pink, which is used as an illuminator/highlighter/blush type thing to give you a pretty glow, and the plushglass is a really gorgeous almost nude pink with just a hint of gold. I was going to take pictures, but I just realised I left the mineralize finishing powder in the car, so I'll wait until I have both of them and do a little photo shoot, haha!
Then W drove us back to his house (via The World! - it was actually kind of fun!) and we got ready and went out for dinner in Parramatta! He took me to a restaurant called La Bella Vista, and they had complimentary champers on arrival, and a special V-Day menu. We didn't get that since the entree was seafood, but we had a lovely meal and then drove home. We WERE going to see a movie at the drive in, but the weather was attrocious, so we went home and watched family guy dvds instead!
Sunday - we watched "I shouldn't be alive" on tv - which was about a young family (20 year old newly weds and their 3 or 4 month old baby) who were stranded in ice and snow for 9 days after their car got stuck in a snow drift. It was really, really horrifying, this ordeal they went through. Then, we went to see Valkyrie at the movies. It's about one of the (20, apparently) assasination attempts on Hitler by various members of the German government and army. I mean. I KNOW it wasn't going to have a happy ending... but it was still quite emotional, not to mention harrowing, watching everything that transpired, but at the same time, it's something that afterward, I was really glad I'd seen. I felt like it was a story that should be told, that no one should forget what these men tried to do. I felt so sad for their wives and children at the end - it's no comfort to them that their husbands, their lovers, or their fathers are gone, even if it was a heroes death. It's the nature of war, but at the same time, I wonder why human beings are so cruel to each other. All in all, it was a bit too much emotional turmoil on the one day for me!
NEXT! after that W had to get ready for Squash, and I was driving back home so I could meet Celia for dinner. We talked about her weekend of crazy valentines day related hours, her sneakiness in helping W organise my present, and also what I'd thought of the flowers she'd organised for him! We also stuffed ourselves with Tiramisu. All round, a good evening had by all.
Tomorrow It's back to work, and tuesday, massages, woohoo! then I'm hopefully selling a text book at some point in the coming week, meeting Jasmine for breakfast and also meeting up with a friend from high school for a little reunion on thursday, unless something comes up unexpectedly. I should also see anna at some point during the week, and probably schedule mum in as well, as the rents are going away for a 10 day cruise as of this friday. I think I'm going to be bored and lonely until they get back!
Other things on my permanent to-do list that I never get around to? I need to sell my wetsuit and snorkel on ebay, I need to find out about my personalised starbucks card, I need to organise a new cinnebuzz card for reward points at the cinema, I need to get my new student concession sticker, AND, I need to find out what's happening re: accomodation for my first week in Rome. Yawn. It all sounds so boring. I was also hoping to ask W for some pointers re: project management, so I can start on my masters dissertation! (hurrah! Note the sarcasm!)
anyway, that's pretty much it. I'm really exhausted all the time lately, so I also have to take some iron tablets I think! but anyway. Night voxers!
Ok, I think this is so random bearing in mind yesterday's post name. Last night I had the most graphic nightmare. I get the feeling it is because I was watching Mamma Mia before I went to bed. In my dream I was getting married, but in the middle of the ceremony, there was some kind of unspecified hitch and we had to leave the church for a while.
Everyone was congratulating me, but I wasn't actually married yet. Then the longer we were waiting, the more I was questioning whether or not I wanted to be with the guy (whose face kept changing - I don't know who it was.) And he started questioning it as well.
In the end he said he didn't want to get married and I went into shock. I remember the feeling of not being able to take a deep breath - of hyperventilating.
I mean, to me, the meaning of that is pretty obvious - I'm ready to start dating again, but I'm also terrified of making the wrong choice and/or being rejected.
It was such a vivid dream, that even now - almost 12 hours later, I'm still feeling a bit weird about it.
On the plus side, my sis and her guy are official. I went to dinner with her last night and she told me all about it. I really hope it works out for her!
Other than that, today was my boss' last day for 3 weeks! she's in Vietnam. I am SO nervous, she's asked me to do the new tenant inductions while she's away. It's like a huge long list of things to remember to tell them, and I'm also handling enquiries. I don't know why I'm so nervous, since I've done this kind of thing at other jobs heaps of times, but I just DO!
Oh yeah, I also entered the MakeUpTalk Dare2Be competition. The theme at the moment is Disney Princess, so I did mine to look like snow white. It was heaps of fun!
This week is going to be sooo massive! My boss is leaving for Vietnam next weekend, and we have heaps of things crammed into her last week! My co-worker's birthday, a guest speaker, massages and book club! then I'm also collecting the recording device I need for my master's project from the Museum tomorrow morning, and I really want a meeting with my boss to go over how we're doing things while she's away!
I finished writing in the travelling journal though, so I should be able to get it sent off soon - here's Willum playing in one of the ribbons from mum's scrapbooking store while I was writing in it:
I actually had a pretty busy weekend!
Friday
I picked up Mamma Mia as an ex-rental and a new copy of Chocolat for hardly anything. I watched chocolat friday night and Mamma Mia on Saturday night. (No, I did not use the singalong feature. Thankyouverymuch! LOL)
Saturday
I cleaned my room in the morning and in the afternoon I met up with Anna. We took photos for the journal and then we went to tiffany's. She'd always wanted to see the tiffany store so we looked at all the gorgeous and expensive things there.
After that we went to Myer so I could exchange my 6 empty mac packages for a free lipstick for their Back to MAC promotion. I decided that the only thing I haven't really got is Matte colour, and I also don't have a bright red, so I bought Ruby Woo, which is aparently Gwen Stefani's favourite colour. It's really pretty but obviously being matte and being so bright you have to use a lip liner and be careful when you apply it or it makes your lips look wonky. I used it quite lightly and then put pink gloss over it, so it didn't look too over the top! While we were waiting for someone to be free to serve us at the mac counter we went to the Bloom counter, and the makeup artist tried their mineral products on us. I really liked the result so I bought the mineral powder in light.
I took a picture of my makeup so you can see how it looks on. I think that the mineral powder really does look lovely in photos, and it lasted ALL NIGHT tonight, I was really impressed! it feels like you aren't wearing any makeup. As you can see, the lipstick really doesn't look all that dark on me as compared to how dark it COULD look:
What else? I went swimming today! my thighs were killing me after I finished my 20 minutes! Which is good, because running seems to impact on my knees and calves a lot more, and it's my thighs I want to work on. I was horrified to learn I've gone up another cup size, which means I officially have the kind of bras that guys joke about and people can fit their heads into. An F. An F for fail, an F for fucking going to lose some weight until I fit into goddamn regular bras! Grumble.
Soooo, yes. That's the plan. Hopefully I can exercise maybe tuesday? I really need to do more than just one day a week. I thought I'd mix it up, a bit of running, some swimming, and then some ab exercises in the sauna after my swim, LOL
Today was Melbourne cup day.I wore my new dress and my fascinator to work, along with the pair of heels I bought with Jasmine yesterday.
I put some bets on the race, but I didn't win anything that I'd chosen. My dad entered me into his office sweep though, and I won that! so I ended up pretty much breaking even which was nice.
Wardrobe Watch:
Other than that, I really really want to try the Bloom Mineral cosmetics line, but I've heard absolutely nothing about it. I couldn't find any reviews about it either. Here it is -
I registered properly for myer one so I should be getting my next $20.00 gift voucher from them! and, on the valued opinions website I have $50.00 odd dollars to turn into rewards! so yay! free shopping trip for rosie!
This weekend was pretty cruisy. Friday night in and online (lol). Saturday I vacuumed my room, did some tidying, cooked lunches for next week (spag bol with chorizo sausage and corn) had a nap... Then today, Sunday, I had a quick jog and then the 'rents and I went to the Norton Street Italian Festival. There was some pretty nice food and some really cute fiat bambinos but I was hoping for more language classes or societies or schools to have stalls. There wasn't really much.
On friday I was shopping with my mamma and I saw this:
Holy COW! That's a 1kg Lindt/Lindor ball! it costs $99.00 Aus. Like chocolate much? lol.
I also lost my depotting virginity! On thursday I went and bought a 15-hole mac pro palette and today I depotted 9 of my mac shadows into it. I thought when/if I travel to europe, it will be easier to have all my mac shadows in one 15-hole palette. I only f*cked one shadow (my poor bark!!) but otherwise they look ok!
I've asked my family and friends to each get me one shadow to fill the holes! the colours are much prettier in person!
L-R - Trax, thunder (LE) humid, goldmine, bark
full flame, grain
passionate, rose blanc.
I took these photos with my cam phone, so I'm actually pretty impressed with how they came out! on thursday I also gave my tiff bracelet in to be engraved. I'll get it back next week. I can't wait!
Tonight I have Celia/Andrew's housewarming to go to so that's it from me!
well I was getting kind of tired of that entry being up there to greet me every time I opened my vox!
Today was nice. I handed my assignment in at long last, I had coffee with mum, I bought a whole lot of Lancome because their Gift With Purchase sounded too good to pass up! We had massages at work and a farewell cake for Glenn. Then when I got home, my sephora brush set had turned up and Shaundra, the girl that had sent it to me included two wet n wild makeup palettes, a perfume sample and a sample of stila tinted moisturiser!
what a sweetheart. I will totally have to buy her a gift although I can't think of anything that she might like.
here is the lancome stuff I got, all for around $130. I felt kind of guilty spending that much but it's not like I have anything to save toward or anyone else to buy for, so what the hell:
