Oh my, this is quite scary, I don't think I've ever really been unemployed on purpose since I started working when I was in high school, at 15! Only one day left and then I will have no income whatsoever! scary!
Yay! I met up with my friend Alison, who gave me a gorgeous belated birthday gift!!
She got me...
clarins stuff -
bag
full size hand and nail cream
full sized beauty flash balm
hydraquench cream mask
gydraquench cooling cream-gel
Eua tranquility rebalancing fragrance
hydraquench intensive serum
one step gentle exfoliating cleanser
They're all perfect for someone who's just got off a long-haul flight!
Anddd.... clinique superpowder in matte beige! this is about one shade darker than the shade I already have, matte ivory, which is my winter shade - it's super pale. Because the superpowder range is quite small colourwise, the matte beige is significantly darker than the ivory, although you can't really tell in photos.
Afterwards we had lunch in Hyde Park... such beautiful weather! I think I may even have gotten a little bit burnt!
Then I went to work, and then I went to meet Ash. We had a good catch up at starbucks followed by dinner at Rossini's at Circular Quay, which was really nice.
I got home reasonably early, and now I want nothing more than a long hot shower followed by some hardcore watching movies while falling asleepness. Tomorrow is the dentist, followed by farewell lunch at work, followed by farewell drinks... eek!
which reminds me! I FINALLY got my accomodation in italy! soo I need to organise my hotel for my first week! I'm excited, I will be living near a park, in the city, but 20-30 minutes away from my school. EEK! this is not good because classes start at 8am. Ugh!
oh well... nevermind - it's close to a little park and also to the Villa Borghese! weekend relaxing in the villa gardens will be up there, if I get the chance!
Ciao voxies!

More photos and news after I come home tonight! Ciao for now voxies, I have to go pick Alison up from the bus stop!
I met up with Alison today and we went to the Estee Lauder corporate store. Honestly whenever I go there, I'm like a kid in a candy store. I whittled my total down from $285 to $160, so I was really pleased with myself, since I'd set a budget of $200.
I got:
DKNY Red Delicious mini size (15mL)
Clinique superpowder double face powder in matte ivory (I hope it won't be too light)
MAC spiced chocolate quad
clinique shimmering tones powder in pink chocolate
2 mac eyeshadows in BARK as backups for my shattered one! (this was a definite splurge but I do love this colour, it's so useful!)
clinique high impact mascara
clinique black honey almost lipstick
and some free samplage:
2 origins checks and balances frothy facewash
3 Dr Andrew Weil plantidote mega-mushroom eye serums
The clinique shimmering tones powder, the high impact mascara and the black honey lipstick came in a pack together - they were such incredible value! Altogether they were $35, which is $1 cheaper than the retail price for the lipstick by itself! and I really really wanted to try black honey.
The spiced choc palette was another bargain, I love the colours. And I almost fainted when I saw rose blanc AND bark for sale but I limited myself to 2 barks, and didn't get any other colours, lol!
Afterward we went for huuuuge, mouthwateringly good takeaway burgers from Hurricanes in Bondi, and then for coffee and wandering at Bondi Junction westfield. I think I've found the bag I'd like to take to Italy with me. I just got a really good feeling about it and the price is right. It's the kind of bag that I'd feel secure with - not in the sense that no one could get into it or anything, I'm sure they could - more, I just got a really strong intuitive sense that it's the bag I should buy! stupid, but the price is right, it's the right size... I just really want it!
Can't wait to play more with my makeup! I love buying this stuff, can't wait to do a spiced chocolate eye!
Anyway. That's all my news for now. Ciao darlings!
Just a few things in a semi-mid week post!
Tuesday I was at work, nothing all that exciting happened, and wednesday the computer fixing guy came and sorted out my desktop... omg I'd forgotten how much I loooooove my huge screen, and my clear graphics card and my not having to scroll across the page to see the end of people's comments! love it! and, I also love that I can watch dvd's in bed! I can turn the italian language feature on, switch on english subtitles.... and fall asleep! hee hee!
What else? I met jasmine for dinner on wednesday, and then today, thursday, I had a meeting with one of the special research librarians to get some assistance with research for my major assignment! apparently, as a post graduate student you have a librarian assigned to you who can assist you with finding the info you need! how cool is that!
He was really helpful, and afterward, I decided to get some books out for my OTHER assignment, the methodologies in ancient art subject. I sent an email to my tutor for that, as I wasn't sure if the topic I want to do is acceptable. Anyway, go downstairs to borrow them, waiting and waiting in the line for the self check, and I notice the librarian is free. So I hop out of the line and go over there, and she said, 'we actually prefer you to use the self check. Have you used it before?' in this super condescending voice, and I'm thinking, of course you damn well prefer us to use it, it means YOU have less work! you're standing here arguing with me, when you could be done scanning them by now.
I explained that the line was really long and slow moving, and she suggested I use another self check machine in the reserve section, which I did, but it was like.... dude, isn't that part of your job? of course I know how to use it, do I look like a savant to you?! add to that, I bet she then was all, 'omg the line wasn't even that long!' to her librarian friends, hehe.
Anyway. After that, I had a coffee and a banana bread at the caf' as we used to call it when we were at uni. It cost me $4.90 for a regular coffee and a slice of banana bread. That's LESS than it costs for just a short caramel macchiato at starbucks! I love uni prices. But the best bit is the banana bread - our uni has the most epic banana bread ever. It's so, so good. It has that shiny glaze stuff on the top, and an actual caramelised banana stuck in it, yummm!
Then I drove to Hornsby to meet up with Alison after work. I had no idea the westfield there was so huge! I got her a card and a scratchie to celebrate her graduation tomorrow since I can't be there, and she gave me some samples and also 2 tops that she decided didn't suit her, apparently this is the week for free clothing! hehe!
We went to a restaurant in this kind of piazza in the middle of the complex, and sat in the sun and had a tappas plate - grilled capsicum, haloumi and potato with a tomato relish... and iced chocolate. Yummy! the sun was gorgeous actually, really warm It was overlooking this groovy water fountain clock thing as well -
Afterward we went shopping to see if we could find anything for Alison to wear tomorrow to her grad, but she didn't choose anything in the end. We also bought a present for her to take to a wedding she's going to on saturday. Honestly, I have never been to a wedding my whole life, and A has been to a kajillion. I'm guessing they'll suddenly happen all at once and I'll have 50 invites.
What else? Tomorrow I'm doing the morning shift, yay! that means I get to start the weekend at lunch time, isn't that so totally cool? of course, waking up so early is less of a joy.... and on that note! I should get ready for bed!
But before I do, I'll leave you with this cute thing willum has learnt to do - he's started begging! whenever I go anywhere near the fridge, he'll run over and push through your legs, and stand on his hind legs and generally get super excited because he knows you'll feed him. The other day I went and got a piece of cheese from the fridge, and he was so hysterical i had to show it to him, to prove it wasn't a strawberry or a sultana, which are his absolute favourite treat foods, barring anzac biscuits. He was really disappointed I didn't have anything for him, and after sniffing all over my piece of cheese, he was clearly all 'ok, that is so totally not what I wanted. Where's my treat?!'
He's too adorable for words. One day I'll have to get a video of how hysterical he gets about his treat food :)
night voxers!
OMG! couldn't believe this today, I got a message from a random 1900 number today, that seemed like a starsign. I thought it looked dodgy so I called my service provider and asked them if they could tell me whether or not I'd been charged for it or not. Turns out, I was charged $5.00 to receive that message, even though I'd never subscribed!
So, I called their customer care number and had them take me off their list (although who knows how I'd ever gotten onto it in the first place) and then demanded a refund. And, I'm not kidding, they promised to send me a cheque for $5.00 in the mail, and it should take 2-3 weeks to arrive. I've written down a reference numer and the phone number of the company, and if it doesn't arrive by then I'm so going to call them - I'm guessing they operate on the assumption that most people will just delete the message and forget about it, thus making $5.00 from potentially thousands of people! even if they do that to only 10 people, that's still $50! it's so shifty and immoral!
Anyway, on the plus side, my africa mango balms turned up! a whole day early! Only downside to that being, since I haven't finished my last one, I can't justify opening either of them, haha!
And, Alison scored some tickets to the staff shop in my area so we might go over there and buy some things! I'm excited about that, since everything is a third of the regular retail price. And, we may do a surfing course! I've always wanted to surf, but wearing glasses, I never really could. Now that I've had my eyes lasered, it's something I feel I should learn. I wish I'd been able to all along - these things are way easier to learn when you're little.
So. That's it from me for now!
Why is it, that we always have these plans for ourselves, and they never work out quite like you expected?
Today I had my italian class, and it was really good! by the end I was thinking in italian, and i understand quite a lot of what is being said, although some details go easily over my head, I just don't hear them.
But, that isn't my grand plan. My grand plan is to knit THIS scarf:
What actually happened was, I went to breakfast with Jasmine, and we went upstairs in the village to go to best and less so she could look for work shirts. On the way down we noticed that go-lo has gone into recievership! so I kind of wanted to go in, so I did, and I bought 2 balls of pink wool and a pair of needles. (randomly. As you do!) and so I needed something to knit, and my internet searches found that design. Here is the link to the pattern, which is free:
http://www.knitculture.com/heart-scarf-2/
It's not really that hard of a pattern but unfortunately I've had to unravel mine about 5 times now. I can knit ok, but I can't find mistakes if I make them, so all I can do is rip it all back and start again. Yup. Frustrating.
What else? plans to meet up with Anna and her new bf for dinner on friday with W coming as well. Should be fun! also, having my hair done that morning, seeing alison on thursday morning and tomorrow I need to shower, change my sheets and do a load of washing before work.
So! with that, I'm off to bed, it's already 1:30am here! eek!
Okay, so yesterday I went for my bra fitting, which was kind of fun! for ages now, I've been wearing the wrong size, since mine is just too difficult to get, not to mention, usually expensive and ugly!
I ended up buying 3 bras - one sports bra, one in white, and a chocolate brown. I've ordered another in a peachy colour too.
But, get this. I could not believe my ears when the woman had finished measuring me. 8FF. Like, woah, joke-sizing much?!
Anyway, then after work I met up with W. We went to the Red Oak Brewery and had this amazing dinner... everything was really delicious. I got the menus off the website!
We started by sharing this cheese tasting board -
Ricotta and grated lemon souffle Kolsch
Woodside brie with quince paste and crispbread wafer Organic Hefeweizen
Milawa blue cheese with oatmeal biscuit and drizzled with honey wee Heavy Ale
Blue Cow cheddar with raisin and almond compote Special Strong Bitter
Then I had this as a main Bangalow Pork, Apple and Honey Ale Sausages on a Dijon mustard and thyme mash potato with a wee Heavy Ale jus (served with a complimentary beer) Organic Pale Ale and for dessert - a selection made daily from Redoak beers and fruits There were 3 in a serve - one cinnamon and honey ale flavoured scoop, one scoop of some type of pineapple and something, and the best one - their raspberry based beer with fresh raspberries! yummy! W had some kind of angus steak followed by chocolate and ginger pudding. Afterward we had a walk around Darling Harbour and sat on a bench for a while talking... there were these rats under the bench next to ours! they were really cute! It was a really nice evening, and I got in fairly late since we got carried away chatting and things. Anyway, I'm meeting Alicus tomorrow morning and then tomorrow night I'm going to W's house to watch Transformers on dvd. I was so annoyed the other day, the video store didn't have a single copy, for rent or to buy! and it's not sectioned as a full movie on youtube either, so I'm looking forward to it.
Yay! I'm back! I had to download firefox to get vox to work on my desktop computer, so random and frustrating, but at least I can post again :D
I'm enjoying my new camera, it's so pretty!
Alison and I met up today to 'exchange' christmas gifts - every year (for the last few years) we just go shopping together and pick out things that we like, up to a certain amount! it works out really well since we both get exactly what we want!
I got her Kit Cosmetics Fresh Pear, Crisp Apple and vanilla body lotion, and she got me MAC fluidlines in Dip Down (pretty brown colour) which I've been raving on and on about for a while, so she bought it for me.
We couldn't think of anything else to get each other, so we're going to have our toes and fingernails painted tomorrow morning together!
I also put a deposit down on a dress for that wedding I'm going to in January... my boss's boss's ex wife's brother's wedding (phew!) which should be fun! they are having 3 events in 3 different countries and their theme is red, white and blue which matches the flags of each country that is having an event. My boss already bought a blue dress, and my workmate saw a nice red one, so that left me with white, so my dress is a pinky oystery cream. I'll post a picture of it tomorrow after I've picked it up. Funnily enough, the style name is 'Seven Deadly Sins' - seems appropriate for me!
I'm still trying to play old DOS games on my comp... I got it working on my laptop but then it came up saying there was some kind of virus on there, so I'm not sure. I might end up giving up!
Anything else? I saw twilight again on sunday with Celia, haha, we're obsessed. I really couldn't decide if I loved it or hated it. I don't think most of the changes from book to movie were necessary or added anything to the story, but I'm still going to buy it on dvd (when it comes out, like a year from now!) and, I would even be up for seeing it again. It was really enjoyable! I think one of the best parts for me was how real the chemistry between the two main characters was.
I'm glad to have my vox access back :)
At some point fairly soon I will get sick of this hackneyed italian phrases. But at the moment... neinte. LOL.
